When Kaye Bennett, matriarch of the Bennett family, summons her adult children to the shore house, she anticipates a vacation full of nostalgia. It’s a chance to relive the carefree joy of summers past: burned hot dogs and drippy popsicles, sunburns and mosquito bites, the crash of the ocean waves and the sounds of crickets at night... But when Kaye’s son and daughter arrive, late and uncooperative, it becomes clear the family desperately need to reconnect.

When Kaye Bennett, matriarch of the Bennett family, summons her adult children to the shore house, she anticipates a vacation full of nostalgia. It’s a chance to relive the carefree joy of summers past: basking in the hot sun, cooling off in the surf and enjoying long evenings watching fireflies on the deck. But when Kaye’s son and daughter arrive, late and uncooperative, it becomes clear the family desperately need to reconnect.

Kaye and her daughter Stacy have been quietly at odds for years and resentment has grown around words unsaid. Faced with spending the summer months in such close quarters, Kaye is determined to remind Stacy of happier times and why she once loved their beautiful beachside home. But both Kaye and Stacy are holding something back. And only when a heart-stopping moment on the beach puts what Stacy most loves at risk are the two women finally able to set free the secrets in their shared past.

Will opening up to each other about what’s in their hearts allow the Bennett family to finally heal? A story of love, forgiveness and the power of family bonds, The Shore House is a heartfelt summer read, perfect for fans of Elin Hilderbrand, Pamela Kelley and Nancy Thayer.

No surprise, another amazing winner from Heidi Hostetter. I have been hooked on Heidi’s writing ever since reading her first book “The Inheritance”. Heidi is a master story teller. In this latest release you will not be disappointed. You are immediately drawn into the story, bonding with the characters and picturing yourself in every setting. Upon arriving at Dewberry Beach you experience the smell of the ocean breeze and the hot crumb buns from Mueller’s Bakery, as only Heidi can convey. Heidi always brings you to a place of simple pleasures, where the creation of lifetime memories are made. The Shore House is no different. A page turning winner!!

The Shore House, on Dewberry Beach in New Jersey, provides the perfect setting for a Bennett family reunion where troubled relationships can be repaired and family bonds strengthened over the course of one perfect summer. This does not go smoothly. Kate Bennett has not opened the family summer home for the three years following her husband Chase’s near fatal heart attack. Instead, she has devoted herself to monitoring Chase and his recovery. Diets and exercise have been made part of the daily routine although Chase resents her overbearing control. He’s delighted to return to the shore house because his children will be there. His son Brad is coming and his daughter Stacy, husband Ryan and their children Connor and Sophie. Things start to go wrong when Stacy arrives only to discover her mother lied to her about Brad and is not sure if he got her messages or will be there at all. Stacy has an uncomfortable relationship with her mother and needs Brad, the favorite, to run interference with her parents. When Brad does arrive, things become surprisingly more uncomfortable. Meanwhile Ryan is negotiating business deals and has little time to help Stacy, who is exhausted by her third pregnancy and harboring an irrational fear of the water. The Shore House is that juicy kind of family story that you just want to drop in your beach bag. You know that everything will eventually turn out well for the Bennetts but you can’t figure out how. This is the first in a planned Dewberry Beach story and I look forward to the next book. 5 stars! Thank you to NetGalley, Bookouture and Heidi Hostetter for this ARC.

The Shore House is the story about the Bennett family who have a house at the Jersey shore that hasn’t been used for three years since the father’s heart attack. Matriarch Kaye decides the time for the family to reunite at the shore has come. Each member brings emotional baggage and expectations. The author has created a well written, complex story about relationships, fears, expectations, and growth that should delight lovers of good women’s fiction. I voluntarily reviewed an advance copy of this book from NetGalley. Most highly recommend.
