Description

The sexy, action-packed first book in the #1 New York Times bestselling Court of Thorns and Roses series from Sarah J. Maas.

When nineteen-year-old huntress Feyre kills a wolf in the woods, a terrifying creature arrives to demand retribution. Dragged to a treacherous magical land she knows about only from legends, Feyre discovers that her captor is not truly a beast, but one of the lethal, immortal faeries who once ruled her world.

At least, he's not a beast all the time.

As she adapts to her new home, her feelings for the faerie, Tamlin, transform from icy hostility into a fiery passion that burns through every lie she's been told about the beautiful, dangerous world of the Fae. But something is not right in the faerie lands. An ancient, wicked shadow is growing, and Feyre must find a way to stop it, or doom Tamlin-and his world-forever.

From bestselling author Sarah J. Maas comes a seductive, breathtaking book that blends romance, adventure, and faerie lore into an unforgettable read.

I really loved this book and continued to read the entire series but this book definitely takes some warming up. I was hooked but at times I found myself putting it down or being semi hard to track because of the the author dialogue, that being said I still loved this book. Book 2 and 5 though are my all time favorites.
  • Confusing world building

I enjoyed this book, however It is in first person and the descriptions of the world and the creatures in it were a bit hard for me to conceptualize. The writing is slightly confusing, and it takes a while to get into the book- especially if you read any of her other books prior to this one. Other than those points, it is a good book and was entertaining enough to keep me engaged. I have heard that this series gets better as it goes on, so I am going to continue reading it. It is based in a fantasy realm, but it is more like faeries in a grotto kind of fantasy, rather than knights and castles.
  • A thrilling but easy read

A great read especially for a first time fantasy reader. World building was easy to follow and the author wastes no time throwing you into the thick of it. I loved the little bit of spice in it too.

Kept seeing this book suggested and thought, fantasy romance? Eh… but I saw it was coming to Hulu eventually as a show and figured I’d give it a try before watching it. OMG. I devoured this book in 2 days! The characters, the scenery, the story, I was captivated! I already bought the series and can’t wait to read it all. 5 ‘s!
