Description

In a society where hustle is the expectation, busyness is the norm, and constant information is king, we've forgotten the fundamentals that make us human, anchor our lives, and provide meaning. Jefferson Bethke, New York Times bestselling author and popular YouTuber, has lived the hustle and knows we must stop doing and start becoming.

Our culture makes constant demands of us: Do more. Accomplish more. Buy more. Post more. Be more. In following these demands, we have indeed become more: More anxious. More tired. More hurt. More depressed. More frantic.

But it doesn't have to be that way. To Hell with the Hustle is your wake-up call to slow down and reclaim your life in an overworked, overspent, and overconnected world.

If you're feeling overwhelmed with the demands of work, family and community or if you're tired of being anxious, lonely, and burned out, To Hell with the Hustle will give you the tools you need to:
Proactively set boundaries in your lifeGet comfortable with obscurityFind the best way to push back against the demands of contemporary lifeDiscover the importance of embracing silence and solitudeHandle the stressors that life throws at us
Join Bethke as he discovers that the very things the world teaches us to avoid at all costs--silence, obscurity, solitude, and vulnerability--are the very things that can give us the meaning, the peace, and the richness we're truly seeking.

Praise for To Hell with the Hustle:

"Ever feel like you need to work harder, put in more time to get ahead, or do everything in your power to be the best? That's the hustle. It can push you to places you don’t want to go, and I've gone there more than I care to admit. In his latest book, To Hell with the Hustle, Jefferson Bethke will help you understand why the hustle can seem so alluring, show you how to avoid the traps it's created in our culture, and find true joy chasing after Christ instead."

To Hell with the Hustle, is one of the best books I’ve read in a long time regarding an approach to life. There were moments that hurt me. There were moments that made me laugh. But, most of all there were moments that helped me. This book will be on my limited annual read list.

You know, I’ve waited and waited and waited to post this review for the past month or so now since the release of the book. Not because I didn’t want to, not because it wasn’t good. But because it was so good, and so timely, that I was merely wrestling with its message on a daily basis and trying to find the time to articulate that, has been difficult, but that’s the whole point of this book. It’s not just a neat idea. It’s a necessary call to action. It’s not a shy away from your dreams kind of message. It’s actually the kind of countercultural message needed to get there in a more effective, more life-giving way. Jefferson Bethke has long been my favorite author, since the release of his first book Jesus > Religion, not because he’s some hip, young author that sounds cool, although he is, but it’s more than that. He has such a way of searching for the truth that we overlook and miss, yet so desperately need and articulating it in a way that’s so simple and easy to understand it makes you wanna keep going back to it over and over again, and this book is no different. It’s only been out a month, I’ve already read it, bought 4 copies to give away, and am about to read it again because it’s that needed. Especially in the life of someone like me who feels weighed down by the hustle culture we live in. Where everything is “do more”, “be more productive” and life-hack your way through every single moment only to feel like it’s killing you. But it’s not just a alternative message. It’s a call to put its words into action. To not just read a different way, but put it into action with practical steps and see the results for yourself. It’s challenging, yet insightful. Funny, yet practical. Deep, yet simple. All wrapped into a few hundred pages that won’t take too long to read, and comprehend, and apply, even for a slow reader like me. I don’t mean to be long, and I could really go on and on with praise for this book, but I don’t wanna spoil it, so go read it for yourself and experience just how powerful, freeing, life-giving and life-changing it can be in your life. And while you’re at it, grab a couple copies for your friends to, so you can walk the journey together and hold each other accountable as you seek to live your best life, and prove why “to hell with the hustle!” Is the message we should all be shouting!
