Description

The perfect man for me is a charming, sexy, hot as hell lawyer who knows how to negotiate his way into my panties.

Been there.
Done that.
Burned the T-shirt.

I didn’t swear off all men after my divorce, but I sure as hell swore off anyone remotely like my ex. On the top of that list? Attorneys. Everyone knows they can’t be trusted.

Now that I’ve moved back into my childhood home in Chicago, my focus is my daughter, my mom and me. I haven’t given up on finding my happily-ever-after, it’s just on hold—indefinitely. Yup, life is in a real upswing.

Then I see Reed Warner again, and I’m reminded of all my mistakes. I push him away, but somehow he weasels his way into every part of my life, not willing to take no for an answer.

In spite of my better judgment I can’t stop thinking about the way his designer suits fit his muscular frame, or the way his blue eyes seem to eat me up with every glance.

You know when you’re on a diet and even hummus seems irresistible? Reed is like the equivalent of chocolate éclair and my willpower is fading fast.

The problem? Not only is he a lawyer…

He was the best man at my wedding.

Note to readers: This book was previously titled Manic Monday (Charity Case #1).

I fell in love, I laughed and I cried, as I became invested in the characters. I was cheering on the relationship of Victoria and Reed as they wound through the tangles in their lives. If I had any negatives about this book, I would have to say that the editing could use another read through but overall didn’t bother my ability to read and understand the book. Great read .

What a great start to the series. I’ll start right off by saying I can’t wait to see what happens next in book two, cuz Manic Monday was just that dang good. The book is wonderfully written with humor, romance and lots of events that happen in everyday life that everyone can relate too. I found myself laughing and smiling throughout the book. The characters the author’s gave us are just perfect for the storyline. Vic is divorced with a 7 year old daughter living in LA. Needless to say her opinion of men at this time in her life is not very good. She’s given up on the happy ever after and is concentrating on her child, her schooling and work. But when her mom get sick, she moves back home to Chicago with her daughter in order to help care for her. Her old boss helps her with a new job which turns out perfect for Vic. She works with two other women, Hannah her boss and Chelsea a hilarious coworker. Both women are divorced and let me tell you these women are a hoot, but just exactly what Vic needs in her life. (But no spoilers from me so I’ll hush on that). Vic also runs into Reed which dropping her daughter off at school. Reed is a very sexy man who is absolutely too good to be true in at almost everything. Needless to say the instant chemistry between them is off the charts, the trouble is he has 3 strikes against him in Vic’s book: he’s male, he’s an attorney like her ex and he was her ex’s best man at their wedding. So he’s a definite NO GO in her book. But what about in Reed’s book? If you want a great read that will have you laughing, almost to the point of tears at times, wanting to bop a few mean moms and stuff shirts on the head a time or two and pretty much have you grinning from ear to ear throughout, this is a great book to read. I highly recommend it and as I said up top, I can’t wait for book 2. Chelsea, the wild crazy divorcee at the office is up next, and all I can say is OH Boy is it going to be a hum dinger… I can just feel it. 2 Thumbs Up for Manic Monday.
