Description

WINNER, Cinescape Genre Literary Competition

The Interim, humanity's sole possessors of faster-than-light travel, stand between the species and extinction, or so its Founders claim. The crew of the sub-light freighter Lady of Chaos wants nothing to do with it. But when two fugitives, one a scientist, the other a rogue agent of the Social Engineering Service–the Interim's death squads–come aboard, Lady suddenly becomes the most wanted ship in the galaxy. And that's even before the Interim learns the true identity of Lady's captain. The hunt is on, and its outcome will leave the universe forever changed.

"...reminiscent of sagas like Dune and Foundation, without ever being repetitive. It's thoughtful, but also a good old-fashioned page-turner." -Cinescape magazine

Lots of new intrigue interestingly mixed with desperate action and mystery. I really liked the story being told, the characters developed and the outcome for them. Great sifi

The Captain with which we are presented by the author of this book is wholly unsuited to even be a character in a space opera. He is weak willed, self centered, paralyzed by confusion and arbitrarily and casually cruel. I could not empathize with him, nor could I sympathize with his self induced ordeals. His basically sexist behavior toward women, especially His unnecessarily and callous indifference to his only child and her mother all tell the reader who the captain really is. Not the hero of a space opera. The book was well written, tho.
